1. Who We Are
OpenScouter is a B2B accessibility testing platform that connects businesses with neurodivergent testers. The “Latch” browser extension is the companion tool testers use during managed testing sessions.
2. When We Collect Data
The Latch extension only collects data during managed testing sessions that the tester explicitly consents to. When no session is active, the extension is completely dormant and collects no data whatsoever. The extension's content script is only injected into the page being tested, not into any other websites.
3. What Data We Collect
During an active testing session, the following data may be collected:
Interaction Data (always collected)
- Mouse cursor position and movement velocity
- Click events with page element identifiers (CSS selectors, tag names)
- Rage click detection (repeated rapid clicks)
- Hover duration on page elements
- Scroll position and depth percentage
- Keyboard tab navigation events
- Input focus events (element type only, not values entered)
- Page URLs visited during the testing session
- SPA navigation events (route changes)
- JavaScript errors encountered on the tested page
Voice Data (opt-in, requires microphone permission)
- Voice transcripts via the browser's built-in Speech Recognition API
- Audio recordings in 30-second segments
- Transcript confidence scores
Facial Emotion Data (opt-in, requires camera permission and local AI server)
- Emotion scores (angry, disgust, fear, happy, sad, surprise, neutral) computed locally
- Dominant emotion classification
- Raw webcam frames are processed locally and never stored or transmitted — only the resulting emotion scores are sent to our servers
Screenshots (user-initiated only)
- Screenshots are captured only when the tester explicitly clicks the “Flag” button to report an accessibility issue
- The tester can preview the screenshot before submission
Session Metadata
- Session duration
- Browser user agent string
- Viewport dimensions
- Which capture streams were active (cursor, voice, face)
- Post-session feedback (rating, comments, willingness to repeat)
4. What We Do NOT Collect
- Form input values, passwords, or personal data entered on pages
- Keystroke data (only Tab navigation is tracked)
- Clipboard content
- Cookies or authentication tokens from the tested website
- Browsing history outside of the testing session
- Any data when no testing session is active
5. How We Use Your Data
All collected data is used exclusively for accessibility analysis of the tested website. The data is provided to the business that commissioned the accessibility test to help them identify and fix accessibility barriers on their website or application.
6. Data Sharing
Session data is shared only with the business that commissioned the testing session. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling purposes.
7. Data Storage and Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored securely in our database with row-level security policies. Session tokens are used for authentication and are ephemeral — they exist only for the duration of the testing session.
8. Data Retention
Testing session data is retained for the duration needed by the commissioning business to complete their accessibility review. Testers may request deletion of their data at any time by contacting us.
9. Your Rights
- You can opt out of voice and facial capture before each session
- You can take a break at any time, which pauses all recording
- You can end any session at any time
- You can request deletion of your data by contacting us at privacy@openscouter.com
